Cosmetology
Express your creativity and talent in hair, skin, nail care and face color application. Our cosmetology course incorporates 250 days (60 credits) of xtensive hands-on learning to provide you a complete understanding of beauty and wellness. Upon completion, you'll be ready to succeed as a licensed cosmetologist, esthetician and nail technician.

EARTH PHASE
10 weeks (12 credits; 360 hours)

The emphasis in this phase is an introduction the fundamentals of shampooing, rinsing, conditioning, hair coloring, haircutting, chemical texture services, manicures and pedicures, facials and skin care, face color, hair removal, laws, rules and regulations, management, ethics, interpersonal skills and salesmanship, disinfection, sanitation, and safe work Practices. Future professionals learn State and safety requirements, experience basic theoretical knowledge and practical application through lectures, demonstrations, and workshops. Upon completion of the phase the future professional will have the primary skills needed to fully service a guest.

WATER PHASE

Strengthening cutting skills are emphasized in the Water phase. The center of training reviewing and practicing the basic techniques and combining the techniques to achieve new results. Nails are also a primary focus during the Water phase. Advanced nail techniques will be introduced along with preparation for the State Board examination. The beginning stages of creating a business plan are also incorporated during the Water phase.
PREREQUISITES: Successful completion of Earth phase 80% academics and 88% attendance

FIRE PHASE

The focus for the Fire Phase is Skin Care. Aveda Elemental Nature philosophy will be incorporated into facial treatments. Skin analysis, refinement, treatment and spa rituals will be emphasized. Future professionals will have training in basic facial techniques as well as preparation for the State Board examination.

AIR PHASE

This phase introduces new techniques and builds upon acquired skills. Trends in the industry are explored, such as extensions and advanced color placement and you'll receive training in photo shoot preparation. An emphasis on professionalism and business is featured. Future Professionals will have the opportunity to tour area salons and prepare for the interview process.

INFINITY PHASE

To prepare for State Board competency exams and prepare for salon life.

To prepare for salon and Aveda network expectations and success-future professionals will work toward industry standard goals and have the opportunity to participate in an honors program. Future professionals will receive a mock paycheck to reflect their potential earnings upon completion of the program. Salon tours and guest artists will also be featured.
